The Spongebob Universe just got bigger with 3 of its characters getting spin-off movies for the big screen.
Our kids are very fond of the Krabby Patty flipping sponge that is Spongebob. His laughter is infectious and he shows that growing up doesn’t mean they have to be serious all the time. The Spongebob series has been a long-time running series in Nickelodeon, even going back to the times when our millennials were just toddlers. So, it’s totally no surprise that the universe is now unleashing 3 new Spongebob Character Spinoff movies this coming 2023.

Which characters are coming out for the Spongebob character spinoff movies?
Besides Spongebob, we have the ever gloomy Squidward which our older kids relate to. Then, there’s Patrick — Spongebob’s best friend who’s a starfish. These two played a big role in the Spongebob universe with Squidward playing the ever Gloomy Gus and Patrick, the supportive best friend. While we’re not sure which characters have a spinoff, these two characters will be the biggest possibilities for the Spongebob character spinoff movies.

Because of the popularity and the memes, the Spongebob movies always had a stellar track record. They grossed up to millions of dollars with the first movie making up to $471M. Even if the plot’s pretty linear for many of us parents. While we’re hoping to find movies that encourage critical thinking, it’s no shame to have a movie that has slapstick humor every once in a while. Like they always say, “all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.”
Kiddie movies incoming this 2023
Nickelodeon seems to be in high gear for releasing movies, even featuring two more beloved franchises. With Marvel + Disney upping their game, it’s no surprise they plan to match the family movie giant. However, we’re hoping that the new spinoffs won’t end up just being all slapstick. With kids learning all sorts of things online, they probably would want something with a good mix of substance and memes.
