Weekend Vibes: Add These To Your October Binge Watch List

Wondering what to watch over the weekend? Here’s a list of all our must-watch Netflix and HBOGo shows and movies…

It’s the weekend, folks! Which means, it’s time to snuggle up on the couch with some popcorn, let loose and catch up on our Netflix/HBOGo game. While there’s a bunch of kiddie-themed Halloween shows and awesome new K-dramas on our watchlist, we’re ready for some new to shows to obsess over.

FOR PARENTS

Rebecca

Perfect for Halloween, the creepy Mrs Danvers (Kristin Scott Thomas) takes on the new Mrs De Winter as she attempts to make Manderley her new home. Handsome widower Maxim de Winter (Armie Hammer) has finally taken a new wife to replace the elegant but deceased Rebecca but Mrs Danvers is having none of it, of course. Based on Daphne du Maurier’s beloved 1938 gothic novel, this is one psychological thriller you won’t want to miss.

Emily in Paris

While we can’t eat our pain au chocolats on Champs Elysees (do people actually do that) anytime soon, we can do so vicariously through Emily (Lily Collins). The show follows the story of a twentysomething American girl for a snazzy new job. We say: instead of making fun of the cliches, enjoy them and the droolworthy eye candy in the form of neighbor Gabriel. Love him. And her.

American Murder: The Family Next Door

Get your crime junkie fix with one of the most bone-chilling documentaries on Netflix. In 2018, 34-year-old Shanann Watts and her two young daughters went missing in Frederick, Colorado. As heartbreaking details emerged, their story made headlines worldwide. Told entirely through social media posts, law enforcement recordings, text messages and never-before-seen home videos, you’ll get the shock of your life when you find out who did it.

Nicole Kidman is livening up our nights in HBO’s six-part drama written and produced by Big Little Lies’ David E Kelley. She plays successful New York therapist Grace Fraser, happily married to Jonathan (Hugh Grant: woohoo!) and their bright young son. Things, as in all good plot lines, start to unravel fairly swiftly though and Grace’s perfect life isn’t what it seems…

Ratched

Step into Lucia State Hospital and witness the horrors within, in typical Ryan Murphy style. You’ll meet Edmund Tolleson, a serial killer awaiting trial for murdering priests; Dr Richard Hanover, the director of the mental institution who left a kid limbless after a botched operation; and of course the mysterious Mildred Ratched, who joins the place as a nurse with a sinister, ulterior motive.

The Haunting of Bly Manor

If you loved The Haunting of Hill House, you’ll love season two: The Haunting of Bly Manor. Inspired by Henry James’ 1898 short novel, The Turn of the Screw, expect familiar faces and a chilling tale set in an old country England mansion in the 1980s. It’s certainly got big, scary boots to fill: the first season was, we think, one of the best horror series EVER!
