This is How Andi Manzano-Reyes Keeps Her Daughters Active, Entertained, and Connected in Quarantine

Girl-mom Andi Manzano-Reyes shares how having a strong PLDT Home connection helps in different aspects of her and her family’s daily lives

Being a parent to toddlers while in the middle of a global pandemic can get incredibly taxing. In spite of that, moms and dads are doing their ultimate best in making sure each and every child is productive and still having a blast at home from sunrise to sunset. The same goes for mom of two beautiful girls Andi Manzano-Reyes. The idea of having two little kids roaming around the house on a daily basis may be overwhelming, but for this girl-mom, it’s a dream come true.

A temporary parenting tweak

Six years into her parenting life, the radio-DJ-turned-vlogger admits that she is a strict parent. However, because of how Andi and her family’s life has changed throughout the quarantine, she knew she also had to tweak her parenting styles just a bit. Letting really young children stare at screens for hours on end may get over-the-top, but Andi considers gadgets a big help in keeping her kids entertained at home. As days went by, she became more lenient with six year-old Olivia and two year-old Amelia being on their gadgets, but still making sure they use the majority of it for educational purposes for a limited period of time.

“[Parenting during the pandemic] is something new to all of us. It’s challenging, but it’s also fun and exciting for me because when you’re stuck at home with your kids, this is where you really get to know them.”

Staying connected in the midst of it all

Unlike Andi’s youngest daughter Amelia, eldest Olivia has more experience on what life was like before the pandemic hit the world. She has been exposed to different cultures as she was able to travel around the world, learn along with her friends and classmates in school, and even do something as simple as visit relatives at their own homes.

Since her six year-old is more familiar with that kind of lifestyle, Andi shares that she had to continuously explain why all those things that she was accustomed to had to be put on pause for the time being. Instead, Olivia now attends distance learning, which was a big adjustment at first before eventually starting to enjoy it. This made the mom of two realize that, “It’s not just me who needs people, but also my kids. [Olivia] needs other people, she needs to see other people, she needs to talk to other people aside from mommy or daddy all the time.” This led to Andi teaching Olivia how to contact family members on her own, making the eldest of two siblings frequently talk to her loving relatives even without her parents’ help. Apart from this, their entire family also catches up with one another, and attends special family events like weddings and parties through online video calls that they can easily do with PLDT Home.
