Top 5 Beachfront Private Rentals To Take Your Kiddos

Looking to reserve for a beachfront property just for your fam? Marie Field Faith shares her top picks for kid-friendly beachfront private rentals near Metro Manila

During my kids’ summer break, we really took advantage of the time to find amazing private places by the beach where they could explore and run around while feeling that freedom of space. Since we were not comfortable yet to share spaces with people we did not know, the private rental option became our sought after option. We were so delighted to find hidden gems that brought so much joy and much needed break for us all. And the good news is, I am sharing these wonderful staycation locations with you and your family!

Here are the Top 5 Beachfront Private Rentals to book right now!

1. RESTHOUSE LAIYA

If you are looking for a beachfront staycation that has a beautiful stretch of white sand beach, then you can’t go wrong with The Resthouse Laiya’s 9-ha private estate beachfront property. It is tucked away from other resorts and the crowd providing that privacy and tranquility you seek while being able to enjoy wide open space by the seaside. Located in the more pristine side of the cove where turtles come to lay their eggs, with horses wandering about, and a variety of birds nestled among the trees.

Why we love it:

Long stretch of white sand beach where the kids can enjoy running around, building sand castles and swimming in the clear sea water. There are cottages too where you can set up your snacks, play some music and enjoy the seaview by the duyan. We love the outdoor lanai area where you can BBQ and enjoy outdoor dining in the fresh sea breeze. The rooms are simply decorated but are comfortably air-conditioned.

We love the wide open space of this location. It felt so private as the property beach frontage is long and wide. You can run around without seeing anyone else!

2. BEACHFRONT HOUSE CALATAGAN

We’ve had so much fun in this beach house! The beach might not be as nice as the one in Laiya, but this place has so much to offer that the kids had a marvelous time over here.

This summer beach house is open to guests who want to escape to some peace and quiet. The open floor plan encompasses four spacious bedrooms with plenty of room to relax and sleep. The living room opens to the deck that has tables and chairs for lounging, and a game of ping pong or darts. Perfect for every family, this home is located in front of a sand bar and the Calatagan beach.

Why we love it:

The house is beautiful, but what we really enjoyed was the outdoors. There is a huge tree outside and there are several hammocks and swings around it, which the kids loved. They also had a small makeshift balsa by the water that provided our kids so much imaginative playtime. It also has a big bonfire area which was spectacular at night, right after you watch the sunset just right in front of the property.

There is also an Intex pool that we did not think we needed, but since it was so hot, it was such a relief to be able to cool down here. The beach in front has some sea grass, so for swimming you need to walk a bit further ahead to find this beautiful sand bar.

This is a place I will definitely book again! Easy-going and helpful staff too which made the stay more enjoyable, and some ice drop and fish vendors came by too!

3. BEST BEACH ANILAO

What I love about these places is that each one is different from the other. This location is perfect for the more adventurous type of staycationers, who enjoy snorkeling, kayaking, sailing and finding the resident turtle who always swims nearby. Because this is in Anilao, don’t expect a sandy white beach! Think more coral reefs and rich marine life, then you’ll have a blast!

Why we love it:

My kids remember this place very well as the place where they had to sleep without AC! And since we went during the peak of summer, yes there were times when it was quite hot. But now that it is cooler, this is defintely a value for money location you should not overlook. Yes, you will sleep in cottages with no AC but you will be provided with several fans and you’ll sleep in this beautiful cottage with large open windows by the sea side. Perfect for rainy days! It felt like we went to some remote island very far away and did not just drive 2hrs from Manila.

They have a kitchen here too and helpful helpers that made us feel at home. And the owner’s grandson was there too, to take the kids snorkeling and even got videos of them with the turtle! Everyone had a fabulous time.

4. BATALANG BATO MABINI

A 3,000sqm beachfront property located in a marine sanctuary. Secluded & serene with a fantastic view of the sunset and the islands! Private and direct access to the beach. Right in front is a house reef perfect for snorkeling, free diving and scuba diving.

Why we love it:

This is a beautiful property right in Anilao next to the popular resorts. Best enjoyed with sturdy beach shoes as the beach front has sharp rocks! The property in itself is a gem, covered with greens and a cascade of white bougainvillea covering the side of the villa. It has an open-air dining and a view deck upstairs that has magnificent views of Sombrero Island. It also has swings and hammocks, plus a huge sungka that is perfect for late night games with the family.

5. BALAI LA-HI BOAC

I have placed this at Top 5 because I have not visited this place yet, but have a current booking to visit them soon. But as soon as I saw it during my usual late night Airbnb search, I was so excited with my discovery. And I think you need to check it out too before it gets fully booked!

Balai La-Hi is a provincial home by the sea, weathered, lived-in, but cosy with ample spaces for living well. All rooms are cooled by fresh air and designed to make sure that everyone gets more than ample personal space. Balai’ La-Hi is a private home by the sea in Barrio San Rafael, Cawit. There is nothing here except the sound of waves, birds chirping, leaves rustling in the wind, and sea vessels coming and going. Everything about this place is natural and honest. Nothing forced, everything just gracefully falling into place. Spending time here somehow has the ability to calm one’s senses.

So there you have it! I have to say that if you are interested in booking one of these places to make sure that you check their available dates early, as good locations get booked way in advance. Make sure you coordinate with the host too regarding updated travel requirements to make your stay smooth and without hiccups. Lastly, each place has their distinct appeal. Don’t come expecting hotel service as private rentals most often don’t operate like that. Read the House Rules and take time to understand what are provided and not provided during your stay. This ensures that your expectations are managed and you maximize the enjoyment during your stay!
