Everything We Know So Far About The ‘New’ Blippi Actor, Clayton Grimm
Say hello to Clayton Grimm, aka the ‘new’ Blippi
It was a sad and confusing day for kids when they realized that their fave bespectacled person on YouTube, aka Blippi wasn’t the same person they’ve been watching for years. Yup, there’s a ‘new’ Blippi actor in YouTube town and everyone — parents and kids alike — are blipping out.
After 7 years of playing the eponymous Blippi, actor Sevin John, real name Stephen J. Grossman, has been replaced by Clayton Grimm. And this isn’t the first time Grimm stood in for John. In 2019, Grimm appeared on the Blippi Live tour rather than the ‘real’ Blippi 12.5 million kids have come to know and love.
On Friday, the Instagram account for Blippi, announced that they would be “bringing more Blippi from the Live Show”:
Fans were surprised it wasn’t John donning the trademark orange bowtie and beret and noticeably upset. “Will the real Blippi please stand up?” said one user, while another expressed her disappointment: “Who’s this? This isn’t going to fly with my kids..” Some even called Clayton Grimm an imposter, while another’s child asked if it was a guy dressed up as Blippi for Halloween.
Who is Clayton Grimm?
Clayton Grimm has been on the road for Blippi since 2019. Now, he’s playing Blippi in a new “Learn with Blippi” series, which recently premiered on YouTube. According to his bio, Clayton Grimm is an NYC based actor, who graduated from the prestigious NYU Tisch School of the Arts/Strasberg + Classical Studio. Apart from playing Blippi, Grimm has appeared on tour internationally as The Flash in DC’s Justice League.
Will Stevin John stop playing Blippi?
In an interview, a spokesperson for popular children’s show production company, Moonbug, says that Stevin John, the original Blippi, will remain part of the show. Clayton Grimm, on the other hand, will be part of a set-based format similar to the Blippi stage show.
A statement on the Blippi The Musical website reads:
“Stevin John is the creator of Blippi and acts as the the writer and creative force behind the Blippi character. Now that Blippi has evolved as a character he is excited that a dynamic stage performer has been cast as Blippi to entertain and thrill audiences across all of the tour markets.”
So parents, there’s no need to get your suspenders in a twist. Stevin John will be back as Blippi, while Clayton Grimm will be in other Blippi videos. Case closed.
