DECODED: The Dad Code That These Celebrity Dads Follow

Every man swears by the Bro Code. But when they become dads—celebrity or not, they now adhere to the Dad Code.

We’ve all heard about men talking about The Bro Code. In fact, we’ve heard the most famous rule, “Bros before hoes”. But the majority of these rules apply to the single man and not a dad. Meaning—there are going to be some changes. Without further ado, let these celebrity dads show what are some of the contents of the new Dad Code.

1. Dads may still celebrate their bromance

No matter what happens, men can appreciate other men. Especially when these other men are also dads. Take a page out of Nico Bolzico’s book as he celebrates this with his brother-in-law, Erwan Heussaff even quoting, “Hide your #madres, the sexy #padres with their highly fashionable #DadBags are here…”. Yes, men can tell other men that they are sexy and it’s totally fine.

2. Dads must always be their little girl’s first date

While it doesn’t always have to be swanky and fancy, a daughter will always see her father as the standard when it comes to finding a partner. Every time Jake brings Ellie out, he makes sure she has a fun time and they take good photos to remember the day. It’s why he became the Ultimate Girl Dad after all.

3. Your bed shall now be your kids’ bed (whether you like it or not!)

As the designated playmate of the kids, dads will eventually realize that they won’t have their bed back for a very long time. Especially after a long day of running, screaming, and playing all sorts of games! The kids would want to sleep next to their favorite playmate, of course. Drew Arellano certainly knows that with Duday, Primo, and Leon sleeping on his side of the bed—forming some sort of fence.

4. When mama wants to lay low, dada’s got to respect that.

Most of the time, celebrity couples feature each other on their Instagram accounts. But if you look closely at celebrity dad Ian Veneracion’s Instagram, there’s not a single picture of him and his wife Pam. But that’s because Pam requested him not to—to maintain a low profile. And although there are not many pictures of him and Pam, there are some with his kids.

5. If your bro is a dad, it goes without saying that you are now a secondary dad.

This Dad Code rule definitely applies when you have a twin—like celebrity dads Anthony and David Semerad. You can see the confused look on Mia Semerad’s face when she’s not sure why David looks like her dad Anthony.

6. Being a dad means breaking the stereotypes of masculinity

Masculinity is no longer a thing when you’re a dad. Just ask celebrity dad KC Montero who dons a pair of rabbit ears with his son Wyatt when they welcomed Easter.

7. A dad joke a day keeps the sad faces at bay

While the Dad Code doesn’t demand that the joke be something complex, it’s the effort dads make in making their kids crack a smile in the morning. Celebrity dad Anthony Pangilinan cracks one with his daughter Hannah on his IG: “Hannah Banana in pyjama.”

8. Dads will always have a “Bring-Your-Kid-To-Work” Day

When dads know that moms need a break, they will not hesitate to bring their kids to work even if it means having them on stage. Celebrity dad Billy Crawford has Amari running around but knows it’s part of being a dad.

We’re sure there’s a lot more to the Dad Code!

The moment a bro becomes a dad, there’s got to be a few revisions to the original Bro Code. After all, the kids will definitely melt any bro’s heart whether they like it or not. It’s a good thing that these celebrity dads gave us a view of what lies inside the Dad Code. But we’re sure there’s a lot more to the dad code than we think there is!
