Dennis Trillo Admits It’s Hard to be Separated from Daughter Dylan

Dennis Trillo admits it’s hard to be away from his daughter, now 5 months, and wife, actress Jennylyn Mercado, as he tapes for his new show.

We all know that Dennis Trillo is a good actor. However, being a father is a top priority for him. In a recent interview with GMA News, Dennis, who is set to return to television as Crisostomo Ibarra in the new show Maria Clara at Ibarra, said that doing the show required sacrifice on his part to be away from his daughter Dylan and wife Jennylyn Mercado.

Mahirap mahiwalay lalo na babae. So ngayon, medyo makulit na siya, medyo clingy. So mas mahirap lumabas, mas mahirap umalis ng bahay na hindi siya kasama,” Dennis said of his daughter.

The actor shared that during the first few months, he and Jen have been so hands-on with their daughter. “Kasama ka mismo doon sa journey. Hindi niya magagawa iyon mag-isa. Kailangan nakaalalay ka sa tabi,” he said.

During the press conference for Maria Clara at Ibarra last Friday, September 24, Dennis was asked if the show signals his return to television after being away to take care of his family.

Medyo mahirap pero kailangan lang masanay. Kailangan magaling yung time management mo – artists at tatay sa bahay,” he said. “Once nakuha mo na yung pag-manage ng time mo ng maayos, medyo madali ka ng makaka-adjust.”

Dennis on playing Crisostomo Ibarra

In Maria Clara and Ibarra, Dennis brings to life the character of Crisostomo Ibarra. He is the main hero of Jose Rizal’s Noli Me Tangere. The actor admitted that this was one of the most challenging roles he has done, knowing that it’s based on one of the national hero’s classic writings.

Hindi ito pangkaraniwang role na may kaunti kang preparasyon. Kailangan mahaba ang preparasyon mo dito, alamin mo ang kwento ng Noli Me Tangere and El Fili,” he said. “Maswerte tayo na meron tayong mga reference sa Google, sa YouTube.”

The actor said that when it comes to the look he did for his character, there are a lot of choices given the actors that played the role.

Maria Clara and Ibarra, which premieres on GMA on October 3, stars Barbie Forteza as Klay, the young lady who goes back in the time of Noli Me Tangere. It also includes Julie Ann San Jose as Maria Clara, Ibarra’s love interest. Zig Dulay directs the show. It features the cast of Tirso Cruz III as Padre Damaso and Rocco Nacino as Elias.
