Everything We Know So Far About Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor

She was born on Friday, June 4 and named after the Queen and Princess Diana!

Yup, after that very revealing interview with Oprah, the Duke and Duchess of Windsor have another important announcement to make: Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor is officially a big brother! Last Friday, June 4, a spokesperson for the couple announced that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are parents to a baby girl, whom they’ve named Lilibet “Lili’ Diana Windsor-Mountbatten. Here’s what we know so far:

The birth details

Born 11:40 am at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, California, Lili weighed 7 lbs 11 oz. “Both mother and child are healthy and well, and settling in at home,” says the spokesperson. She is eighth in line to the throne.

In their interview with Oprah, Meghan and Harry revealed that they were having a baby girl, and Harry was excited at the thought of being a father of two.

“Now we’ve got our family…and we’ve got four of us,” he said.

The story behind her name

Lili is named after her great-grandmother, Her Majesty the Queen, whose nickame is Lilibet. Her middle name, Diana, was chosen to honor her beloved grandmother, Diana, The Princess of Wales. At Prince Philip’s funeral in April, Queen Elizabeth signed a handwritten note which she laid on his casket with Lilibet.

In the announcement, the couple added: “We were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili. She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we’ve felt from across the globe. Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family.”

Last November, in her opinion piece on the New York Times, Meghan Markle shared her story of miscarriage. The couple also announced that they were stepping down as senior royals in order to have a more normal family life.
