Superhero and Comic Adaptation Movies Announced at Comic Con 2022

New superhero films will be coming to streaming sites and theaters very soon. Families are definitely looking out for these!

In case you didn’t know, Comic Con 2022 was held over the weekend in San Diego, California. Many superhero films were announced and families are no doubt excited to watch these!

Marvel Studios and DC were among those who made announcements. And the line-up is an incredibly exciting one. Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige confirmed several films and shows in the pipeline. These include Phase 5 and 6 stages of the Marvel Cinematic Universe which falls under what he calls The Multiverse Saga.

Meanwhile, DC has also released two new trailers for Shazam and Black Adam.

Here’s a list of superhero films and shows that families will be looking forward to by the end of the year plus 2023 to 2025.

Captain America: New World Order

After his role as the Falcon, Anthony Mackie is returning as Captain America which hits movie theaters on May 3, 2024.

The Avengers: Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars

Just when we thought we’d seen the last of the assembly of the Avengers, two films – The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars have been announced. The Kang Dynasty is scheduled for May 5, 2025, while Secret Wars follows on November 7, 2025.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

In addition, MCU teased the first look of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The film will hit theaters on November 11, 2022. As the stars and team continue to mourn the death of its lead star Chadwick Boseman, it also gave a power tribute seen in the clip.

Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3

After many hiccups along the way, the third Guardians of the Galaxy film will release on May 5, 2023. Chris Pratt still leads the film as Star-Lord.

Blade

The new Blade film hits theaters on November 3, 2023.

Thunderbolts

The film is scheduled for a July 26, 2024 release.

Fantastic 4

After several films that flopped, Marvel is bringing a new Fantastic 4 to theaters on November 8, 2024.

Shows to be streamed on Disney +

Among the shows that will be streamed on Disney+ are:

  • Loki Season 2 – Summer 2023
  • Ironheart – Fall 2023
  • Agatha: Coven of Chaos – Winter 2023
  • Daredevil: Born Again – starring Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio hitting Spring 2024 
  • Secret Invasion – Spring 2023
  • Echo – Summer 2023

Aside from the line-up, a trailer for She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and I am Groot, a collection of 5 shorts, were released as well. She-Hulk streams starting August 17.

Black Adam

A new trailer for Black Adam was unveiled at Comic Con 2022 with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Pierce Brosnan leading the cast.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods

Zachary Levi returns as Shazam this time with a group of other heroes in time for Christmas 2022.

The Sandman

Based on the comic book by Neil Gaiman, the adaptation comes to Netlfix starting August 5.
