Meet Camp Half-Blood’s New Actor For Percy Jackson: Walker Scobell!
Beloved young adult series, Percy Jackson, finds its new namesake actor in the form of Walker Scobell.
Our kids and teens loved Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson books however, some were disappointed by the movies. But Disney Plus and Rick Riordan found the son of Poseidon in the form of Walker Scobell, the actor who played young Adam in The Adam Project! The author and Disney Plus made their announcements on their social media about how Walker won their votes.

Riordan: “It was a magical moment for me.”
When Rick Riordan checked Walker Scobell’s audition tape, it confirmed what the studio already told him about the new Percy Jackson actor. He recounts on his website, “We were fortunate enough to audition Walker months before that movie came out. But the film only confirmed what we already knew about his talent. It was obvious to me and the rest of the team that Walker had the perfect mix of comedic timing, sweetness, rebelliousness, snark, and heroism to embody our hero Percy Jackson.”
The author personally delivered the news to Walker via Zoom on January 28, 2022. Riordan shares, “Walker is also a super-fan of the books, having read everything through The Trials of Apollo. He already owns a Camp Half-Blood T-shirt!”
What’s next for Camp Half-Blood?
We’re sure our kids are wondering who will be playing the new Percy Jackson actor’s friends. There’s Annabeth, daughter of Athena, and Grover, the accompanying Satyr. But as of now, there’s no news yet but Disney Plus is finalizing it. Rick Riordan’s Heroes of Olympus is a contemporary work that might get your kids interested in Greek mythology. If your kids want to read the books, they can order from Fully Booked or National Bookstore for their own copy.
