MMFF Reveals 8 Films for the Summer Film Festival

Brillante Mendoza’s Apag, starring Coco Martin, leads the lineup of the first Summer Film Festival happening in April.

The first Summer Metro Manila Festival is pushing through this April with the eight films announced on Friday, February 24.

Apag, directed by Brillante Mendoza and starring Coco Martin, Lito Lapid, Jaclyn Jose, and Gladys Reyes lead the list. The seven other films are Single Bells, starring Alex Gonzaga and Angeline Quinto and directed by Fifth Solomon; About Us But Not About Us, starring Romnick Sarmenta and Elijah Canlas, directed by Jun Robles Lana; Kahit Maputi na Ang Buhok Ko, starring RK Bagatsing and directed by Joven Tan; Unravel, starring Kylie Padilla and Gerald Anderson, directed by RC delos Reyes; Here Comes the Groom, starring Enchong Dee and directed by Chris Martinez; and Yung Libro Sa Napanuod Ko, directed by Bela Padilla who stars alongside Korean actor Yoo Min-Gon.

The summer edition of the Metro Manila Film Festival is scheduled from April 8 to 18.

Finally Happening

Originally scheduled for 2020, the Metro Manila Summer Film Festival was postponed after the implementation of the lockdowns during the COVID-19 pandemic. The festival would later transition online until it made a return back in 2022.

The festival kicks off on April 11 with the Parade of Stars.
