Every Mom Needs To Watch This Nike Maternity Ad
Because we are the toughest athletes
Raise your hand if you’ve seen Nike Women’s latest ad for its maternity line, Nike (M). One more time if the ad brought tears to your eyes, just like it did to us.
The ad features pregnant athletes, as well as those breastfeeding and living the toddler mom life, completely unlike any Nike ad we’ve ever seen. The ad launched yesterday, March 14 on Nike Women’s Instagram page to promote the Nike maternity line, Nike (M), which was launched last year.
In the ad, you’ll spot Serena Williams with her daughter Olympia, USWNT soccer player Alex Morgan in all her pregnant glory, and track stars Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Perri Shakes-Drayton, Nia Ali. and Bianca Williams.
“Can you be an athlete? You, pregnant? You, a mother? That depends,” the Nike maternity ad starts, showing various women athletes doing their thing in all stages of motherhood.
Nike gets it
Nike’s maternity line, (M), was created to support mothers’ journeys in sport to help them recover the way their body needs it most. And for us moms at Modern Parenting, that’s something we can get behind. “Motherhood looks different for everyone,” the ad says. “But no matter what you do or how you do it, you are the toughest athlete.”
This ad reminds us to be kinder to our bodies and embrace all the changes — saggy boobs, tummy and all — because, after all, we are the ultimate endurance athletes. Just ask a mom who’s been in labor for 23 hours and she’ll tell you what’s up. Thank you for reminding us how amazing mothers truly are, Nike.
