Celebrity mom Nikki Garcia shares her conscious beauty secrets
Conscious beauty means going clean. That means knowing what exactly goes into your skincare products before you use them. The beauty industry often doesn’t mention how they procure their ingredients. This is why we have to be more mindful of what we use. Not only do we need to know what we put on ourselves but also on how it affects the environment.
For Nikki, conscious beauty and self-care come hand in hand. For NIkki, self-care defines being mindful of what her body needs. This boils all the way down to what she eats, when she sleeps, taking the time to exercise, and what she puts on her skin.
We spoke to Nikki Garcia about her stance on conscious beauty, self-care and why it’s so important to her, especially as a mom:
Why go with clean beauty?
“Choose clean beauty, because, girl, you’re too pretty to poison,” says Nikki Garcia. “This is something that I want my daughters to know.”
While beauty is in the eye of the beholder, that doesn’t mean we can just grab whatever skincare and throw it on ourselves. Everyone has different kinds of skin. Some sweat too much and others are so allergic to anything that they can break out in hives. But these reactions often occur due to artificial chemicals. Sometimes, chemicals are not made properly to the point it can poison you.
Finding the right product
If you have acne-prone skin like Nikki Garcia, you really have to find a product that works well for you. And for time-strapped Nikki, nailing a skin-care routine that works on top of maintaining a busy schedule is her idea of self-care.
“When the sun begins to rise and I am ready to play Teacher Mom, short order cook, disciplinarian,
grocery runner and an after-school tutor,” she notes. “but not before I squeeze in a morning workout at
“I have a serious aversion to exercise, but I’ve been working out religiously 3 times a week since last
March only because I know my body needs it,” she shares.
With all these happening, you’d wonder when she’d have time to take care of herself. But she
had developed a skincare routine for herself which she laughs, was originally “lazy” to come up with!
Conscious Beauty: A Responsibility to Yourself and the Earth
When you use a product that advocates clean beauty, you slowly become more mindful of how the Earth works. But responsibility to the Earth doesn’t mean you sacrifice your beauty for it. Burt’s Bees wants you to know that there is beauty in being responsible for the Earth.
One of the biggest things about Burt’s Bees skincare products is that all their ingredients are sourced by following Mother Nature’s Rules. Meaning, there’s a balance and an understanding of the environment. And that’s a movement that Nikki — and all of us — can get behind.
