Shakira and Gerard Piqué Confirm Separation
Shakira and Gerard, who have two kids, ended their relationship after a decade.
Latina singer Shakira and her beau, Spanish football star Gerard Piqué announced their separation over the weekend. In a joint statement to the media, the couple said: “We regret to confirm that we are separating. For the wellbeing of our children, who are our highest priority, we ask that you respect their privacy.”
Shakira and Gerard have two kids—Milan and Sasha. Milan is 10 years old while Sasha is 7. While promoting her new competition series, NBC’s Dancing With Myself, Shakira talked about her children’s artistic abilities and shared how they helped her come up with the concept for her latest music video, “Te Felicito.”
Hard time for the singer
Shakira became known for hits such as “Hips Don’t Lie” and “Beautiful Liar.” In fact, these songs are massive hits around the world. Apart from the news that she and Gerard are separating, she faces alleged tax fraud charges. This was after she lost an appeal last May.
Shakira and Gerard met while filming the music video for “Waka, Waka.” This was the theme song for the 2010 World Cup. They confirmed their relationship in March 2011.
Gerard currently plays for FC Barcelona.
