Sharon Cuneta Opens Herself to New Opportunity and Thanks Her Work Son” Coco Martin
While Sharon Cuneta has her four kids, she also has her work “kid” Coco Martin who she thanks as she opens herself to more opportunities.
In the entertainment industry, it’s normal for stars to only stay with one agency for the sake of brand loyalty. However, celebrity actress, singer, and mom Sharon Cuneta shared on an Instagram post she will be opening herself up to new opportunities, considering herself a free agent. “I know it is a number of things that have caused this. So while I will always be there when they need me and will always be grateful, I guess it is understandable that I, for now, consider myself a free agent while always keeping my Kapamilya duties.”
In her post, she also thanked her work son, Coco Martin who handpicked her for the role of Aurora Guillermo in FPJ’s Probinsyano.
Sharon Cuneta’s Work “Family”
Besides ABS-CBN using the name Kapamilya for both the fandom and for those who work with them, the relationship between the talents have developed into something akin to family. Sharon Cuneta, who joined ABS-CBN in 1988, had seen the rise and fall of the station especially when the network shut down on August 28, 2020. She fondly calls herself a member of the “old guard” when citing the multiple reasons for her entertaining new opportunities: “We lost our franchise, the station has way too many stars now, and we of the ‘old guard’ have to give way,” she shares. “So while I will always be there when they need me and will always be grateful, I guess it is understandable that I for now consider myself a free agent.”
While announcing her willingness to work with other stations, Sharon dedicated a brief message to Coco Martin, her work son. “Coco, anak, ikaw ang may malasakit sakin at lagi akong iniisip. Abot-langit ang pasasalamat ko sayo at habang buhay kita mamahalin!”
She also added for the record that she hasn’t spoken to any station yet.
Sharon: “But a girl’s gotta work where she can and where she’s wanted.”
It’s normal to be loyal to a company, especially when colleagues become like the family we’ve always wanted. But money to support our own children and lifestyle will always trump that, which leads us to work multiple jobs like many millennials do today. But we can still do what Sharon does. Although she won’t be a prominent figure in ABS-CBN anymore, she will still respond to the family she’s made in the network. “I love you, ABS-CBN. My memory and loyalty are unquestionable. But a girl’s gotta work where she can and where she’s wanted. See you again hopefully soon, whenever you may need me!”
Sharon Cuneta is a mom of four kids: Actress KC Concepcion, Songwriter Kakie Pangilinan, Mariel Pangilinan, and Miguel Pangilinan.
