Texas School Shooting 2022: “Enough Is Enough!”

The 2022 Texas School Shooting is a big sign that something must be done about the gun laws in the US.

Last May 25, 2022 (or May 24, 2022 in the US), 18-year-old Salvador Ramos opened fire in Robb Elementary School, Uvalde, Texas—effectively killing 19 children and 2 teachers in the crossfire. Armed with two semi-automatic rifles he bought from Oasis Outback and 375 rounds from an unknown source, Ramos initially shot his 66-year-old grandmother before proceeding with the school shooting.

The killing spree ended when the police reported killing the suspected shooter.

“Not again.”

President Joseph Biden decried the Texas School Shooting. He mourns, “I hoped when I became president I would not have to do this, again. I hoped when I became president I would not have to do this, again. I hoped when I became president I would not have to do this, again.”

He also pushed for the assault weapon ban and investigation of “common gun laws”.

First Lady Jill Biden barely had words but made up for it in weight. “Lord, enough. Little children and their teacher. Stunned. Angry. Heartbroken.”

“Enough is Enough.”

Emotions are now running high among parents in Uvalde, Texas, and other parts of the US, stating their frustration with the gun laws.

“Nothing is changing. I mean they try to do as much as they can without invading those personal rights as well just like searching every single kid or anything like that so it’s kind of a hard thing to deal with on the faculty side. So, it is pretty scary as a parent and a student I’m sure,” Barry Magers shared with Wane News.

“I don’t ever want to think that sending my kids to school could be the last time I potentially see them. You send them to school to be in a safe environment,” Shanda Kirby, a mother of two, said in an interview. “When you drop your kids off you’re assuming they are in the safest environment like you’re trusting these teachers and facilities to take care of the children so you really don’t think about that as much as you should. But, with these things happening more and more often it’s hard not to think about.”

Celebrities like Los Angeles Lakers star Lebron James and Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr slammed how gun laws need to be changed to prevent school shootings.

“When are we going to do something?” Kerr yelled, slamming his fists on the table during a press conference. “I’m tired. I am so tired of getting up here and offering condolences to the devastated families that are out there. I am so tired of the excuse, I am sorry, I am tired of the moments of silence. Enough!”

The Texas School Shooting 2022 reveals a long-time underlying problem

For many years, gun laws have been controversial in the US. Parents, members of the government, and even celebrities are becoming more and more outspoken. Sandy Hooks was bad enough and now, there’s Robb Elementary. Perhaps it’s really time for the US and Texas to revisit those gun laws so another mass school shooting doesn’t happen again. Or on a more home level, help parents deter their kids from violence.
