Thank You, Chrissy Teigen, For Sharing Your Story

Chrissy Teigen sharing her story about her miscarriage and child loss is one of the most important reminders we’ve received on social media lately. On Instagram, she shared the traumatic experience of losing her child, Jack.

Like many moms, I was gutted by Chrissy Teigen’s experience. I can only imagine the pain she’s feeling… and will continue to feel, emanating from her heart and the deepest, darkest corners of her soul.

Although she’s received some flak for being so public about her pregnancies and — surprisingly — about child loss, we salute Chrissy for choosing to share her story with the rest of the world.

More moms on social media are beginning to open up and share their own stories, to help them and others go through this very devastating time in their lives.

He would have made the best big brother to his "baby". October is #pregnancyandinfantlossawarenessmonth. October is also Ezra's due date. This month will be hard, but it's also a month to bring awareness to pregnancy and infant loss. A month where we give space to those who have experienced baby loss. Space for stories to be shared and to be heard. And in doing so raising awareness about something that is affecting #1in4 women. People celebrate when a baby is born, but do not grieve with you when there is pregnancy loss. People are afraid to talk about pregnancy and infant loss because truthfully, it's uncomfortable. Since we lost him, I've been open about sharing our story because, for such a common thing, it isn't talked about enough! But the fact is, so many families have gone through this, yet often have to do so feeling very alone. No one talks about the: The postpartum season, without a baby. The grief. The thought that others don't understand and it makes you feel like what you feel is somehow wrong or not a big deal. The thought That your loss isn't the same because it "happens all the time" – a loss is a loss. The anxiety of when to try again. Or you'll have to go through all that pain again. The guilt. We will share his story, and bring awareness. To show mothers and families that they aren't alone. And that there isn't anything wrong with sharing your story. Don't be ashamed of your story, you never know who it'll help! It can inspire others. It can encourage others and it can make a mom grieving her sweet angel feel not so alone. #hellooctoberbohomama
