Our Teenage Hearts! Backstreet Boys and Westlife Held an Online Concert

  • 1

Moms and Titas of the 90s gushed over the recent online performance of Backstreet Boys and Westlife sponsored by WeChat.

Moms and titas of the 90s could not help but gush and feel nostalgic when the Backstreet Boys and Westlife performed together during an online concert broadcast for Chinese fans last June 24.

The two bands collaborated on two of their big hits. They sang “My Love” and “I Want It That Way.”

The online concert, produced by East Goes Global, was in collaboration with the Chinese app WeChat. Additionally, East Goes Global previously produced Westlife’s online concert in 2021.

Westlife honored to sing with Backstreet Boys

In a statement, the Irish boyband said they were honored to perform with the Backstreet Boys, whom they look up to as musicians.

“It was an honor to be invited to sing with @backstreetboys on one of their biggest hits and also a very special moment for us for them to sing one of our biggest songs. Thank you to @WeChatApp for having us for an amazing show and to our fans in China who joined the live stream.”

Shane Filan, Kian Egan, and Nicky Bryne wrote separate reactions to the special moment, too.

“Loved singing my favorite BSB song “I want it that way” with the @backstreetboys! What a tune!” Shane wrote.

Nicky tweeted: “A real privilege to be invited to sing with @backstreetboys. We belted out ‘My Love’ and their iconic ‘I Want it that Way.’ Both huge moments – thank you WeChat. 44Million tuned in.”

Kian meanwhile wrote: “What a cool moment to get to sing this song with these guys!!!”

Currently on tour

The Backstreet Boys thanked the Irish boyband and their fans for tuning in as well.

“Absolutely incredible to hear that over 45 million people tuned into the livestream we did with WeChat. Huge thank you to all of our amazing fans in China for making this happen! We can’t wait to come see you all in person real soon!”

The Backstreet Boys are currently touring the United States for their DNA World Tour. Westlife on the other hand is also finishing their Wild Dreams Tour in the UK and Europe. The Irish boyband is set to perform for two nights in Manila on February 20 and 21, 2023 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. We know all the moms and titas of Modern Parenting are looking forward to it.
