WATCH: The Trailer for Darna the TV Series is Out!
Jane de Leon flies as Narda/Darna in August with Iza Calzado as her mother, who plays the first Darna and will train her for battle.
After three years, ABS-CBN revealed the much-awaited Darna trailer on Thursday, July 7. The show stars Jane de Leon in the titular role with Iza Calzado as Leonor, the first Darna, and mother of Narda, who will train her for battle.
In the clip, Narda comes to terms with her destiny. Her mother then tells her that she will be the next caretaker of the stone and starts training her.
The trailer also shows a glimpse of Valentina played by first-time mom Janella Salvador. Moreover, it showed Joshua Garcia playing Brian, Narda’s friend and love interest, and Zaijan Jaranilla who plays Ding, Narda’s sister.
Chito S. Roño and Avel E. Sunpongco directed the TV series. Darna is scheduled for an August release.
Long wait is over
Originally conceptualized as a movie, the project went through several delays including a change of directors and actresses, the ABS-CBN shutdown, and COVID-19.
ABS-CBN executives handpicked Jane de Leon after actresses Angel Locsin and Liza Soberano bowed out of the project due to health issues.
Created by Mars Ravelo, Darna is one of the most famous superheroes from the Ravelo line of comics. It has spanned generations with actresses like Vilma Santos, Nanette Medved, Anjanette Abayari, Angel Locsin, and Marian Rivera wearing the famous Darna costume.
