Will Kids Go Mad From Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness? Here’s What We Know!
Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness’ sinister elements and deep themes may shock our kids.
“You bend the rules and become a hero. I break the rules and become the enemy. That doesn’t seem fair,” Wanda rebukes Doctor Strange in Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness. But Marvel always drew a clear line as to who was the hero and who was the villain. Hypocrisy seemed to be the farthest of topics to deal with. In fact, the comic books may have probably shaped a lot of our moral compasses, allowing us to figure out what is right and what is wrong.
Yet, what’s good may not necessarily be right.
Marvel has made it clear that universe-hopping is one of the things that people shouldn’t be doing. Yet when a grieving mother is given a chance to meet with her kids in another universe, she’ll go for it. Even if it means consulting the dark arts. The sinister turn of what was a good motive reveals how some decisions can offer twisted results.
These twisted results can haunt our kids.
Magic always amazes us when they alter reality or does something impossible. But like Doctor Strange warns, “It can exact a heavy toll.” Corrupting anything it touches and its wielder is the terrifying side of magic that Director Sam Raimi — the same director behind The Conjuring — covers, even corrupting what was once the most innocent desires into something ruthless, destructive, bloodthirsty, and explicit.
Unfortunately, Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness‘ themes take a bit of processing.
While some of us love the deep philosophical debate, it’s not something kids and our families can appreciate right away. Especially with the many sinister elements, jump scares, and dark themes found in the movie. Unfortunately, like most Marvel movies, we’ll need to watch some of the prerequisites like Spiderman: No Way Home and Wandavision to fully appreciate it. Considering Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness is PG-13, our younger kids will need us and our older kids may be the only ones to appreciate it.
Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness currently is showing in cinemas—which we’ve been itching to go to for some time.
