How These Young Artists Got Together to Do SB19’s Mural
ArtSB19 is a group of artists who got together because of their love for the P-Pop kings. Modern Parenting talked to some of the members about the WYAT mural they did at the Araneta Coliseum.
If you were at the Araneta Coliseum last December 18 during the SB19 Homecoming Concert, chances are you saw a mural near the green gate of the Big Dome. ArtSB19, a group of artists (@Michan617, @Ryakami1, @ChristyfelR, OT5kittyCat,@_Ketsuuu_, @bujingcrystala, @Amazng_Grace, @alistoSTELL, @pitsapay, and @gabbieghorl), did the mural. They were formed through their love for the P-Pop group.
Modern Parenting recently reached out to its artists. They happily shared the story behind the mural. This as well as the friendships formed, why they are like family, and why the project is special to them.
A month in the making
Mina (@michan617) told Modern Parenting that the mural was a follow-up to the first mural they did during SB19’s first concert.
“We did the mural to commemorate our first mural project for them at The Zone,” she explained. “It took us a month to develop the concept because we had to coordinate the design with A’Tin PH and Araneta. We also did a number of revisions until the final design was approved.”
The project was a summary of all the places the boys went to from September to November for their tour. It was made possible through the generous help of several people. Aside from A’TIN Philippines and Araneta Coliseum, Pizza Hut and Yani de Dios, brother of SB19 member Justin de Dios, also donated equipment and meals as ArtSB19 finished the mural.
“In this project, the admins of A’TIN PH assisted us through a donation drive to buy the materials needed. A marketing staff from Araneta Coliseum, Miss Gael, was there to assist us with the permits needed and also coordinated with Pizza Hut who provided us with meals during the mural painting. And finally, Kuya Yani de Dios extended help to us by providing us with some equipment needed. We owe a lot to them for their time and generosity.”
A work of love
Doing the mural in a span of a month was not easy. But it was definitely a work of love for all the artists who participated. The boys themselves were touched that they went to the mural to sign it after it was unveiled.

Those passing the Araneta Coliseum will definitely get to see the mural. And the appreciation is something that makes the ArtSB19 members happy.
“Super proud of course, knowing it will be seen by a lot of people. This is a big thing for us as an art group, knowing it will be there for a few months,” says Rya (@ryakami).
With so many projects, what makes this mural special?
“Every work and/or project that our group has done is special in its own way. Maybe what makes this one special is in this project, the whole fandom was involved (through our donation drive). And this is the first time we ever did it with sponsors,” Kat said, pertaining to Araneta and Pizza Hut.
“Aside from The Zone mural which was done earlier this year, this is the second major project we did for SB19,” Mina shared. “We did this for the boys and to help promote their homecoming in a creative way. Also, aside from the admins, we get to spend time with other members who are available and get to bond with them, too.”
Gail, another member, adds: “Since this could possibly be one of the more massive projects the group has done for the boys, this will open more doors for all fan artists. And it will also encourage everyone that there are countless ways to express our love and support for SB19.”
They are family
On top of being artists, ArtSB19 is like family, something all of them cherish.
“In ARTSB19, the success of one member is the success of all,” Mina emphasized. “Ever since, we always celebrate every milestone together – even if it’s individually or team effort. Even if we differ in age, religion, or city, we make sure to respect, care and protect each other as artists. Being an artist could be really tough sometimes with a lot of discrimination from people who don’t understand what we do. But at ArtSB19, we genuinely care and look out for one another and be each other’s motivation. We support each other’s growth.”
“ARTSB19 is our home outside our home. We share similar goals and struggles in life,” Rya added.
For Kat, ArtSB19 is her comfort zone. “Our only goal at the beginning is for the artists in this fandom to have a house or to form a group. Every member became closer online and personally. The group eventually became a family.”
ARTSB19 may have started simply because of a love for a P-Pop group. But one member summed it up: They are a supportive community.
“This sense of belonging and community is really important to us. And as the art group continues to grow and evolve, we’re sure these connections will only deepen,” the group finished.
